Steve and Gill have been together since 1978 and in May 2013 they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.
Musically they came from different backgrounds-Steve, growing up in the late 60s, has always had a liking for classic, heavy rock from bands such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and progressive rock acts like Yes, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull etc.
Gill was a teenager in the early 70s and therefore grew up with The Osmonds, Bay City Rollers, David Essex and David Cassidy. As she matured so did her taste in music, moving on to Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, The Eagles and Meat Loaf. When they met in 1978 Steve introduced Gill to the heavier side of music.
Their shared love of music is represented in the two shows they present. The Classic Rock show and The Sunday Escape.
They have two grown up children and enjoy spending time together, especially watching live bands. Steve is also musical and plays bass guitar in a classic rock band called Still Crazy (Named after one of his favourite films)
THE CLASSIC ROCK SHOW
Broadcast on Tuesday nights the show features a wide range of rock music and reflects on the personal tastes of Steve & Gill. The show plays a diverse mix of rock from obscure music from forgotten or unknown artists to mainstream rock singles and album tracks. many thanks to all at Angel Air recordings for supplying the show with some excellent rock music from the archives.
THE SUNDAY ESCAPE
The Sunday escape is exactly that, a chance to escape the boredom of Sundays and the drudgery of Monday mornings. The show began in the Summer of 2013 and replaced the Sensational 70s show. Most of the music played is lighter rock and pop from the 60s to the 90s and requests. Aired at 7.00pm on Sunday evenings.
Anyone who has listened to the shows and or joined in the chat on the facebook group pages know that it can sometimes get a little bit manic. The friends and listeners have been dubbed the box of mad frogs or the froggies affectionately. Once in a while the crew have get togethers and party like it's 1973. Whether it be coming together to support local bands or gathering at Castle Boyt in Carmarthen (Home of good friends Andy & Eileen) For their annual Summer garden party.
